Voters will return to the polls in Shellharbour Ward A to fill 2 councillor positions on July 30. The elections were called after the court ruled the iVote system failure in the ward was so serious that it voided the previous result. A new poll is now required.
The mayor had petitioned for the election to be moved to 2024, but this was rejected.
Candidates have been encouraged by the Electoral Commissioner John Schmidt to start preparing their nominations now. There are no details on refunds for candidate expenses from the previous election held only 6 months ago.
Enrolments for Shellharbour ward A will close on June 20.
