
Kiama resident Sandy Rendel has called on local social media to consider electricity microgrids projects for Gerroa and Jamberoo.
Endeavour Energy has announced the first community microgrid on the NSW South Coast as part of a $4.8 million initiative. It will be working with residents in the coastal towns of Bawley Point and Kioloa.
A community microgrid is the construction of a network of community and home batteries & solar panels to produce a renewable and reliable electricity supply almost immune to power outages.
Further south, the Australian National University is working with Essential Energy to study 8 possible micro gird sites. These include Tilba, Tuross Head and South Durras to supply local power even in a catastrophic bushfire event.
