The announced proposed sale of the Blue Haven business has resulted in a range of voices now united in opposing the sale of Kiama Blue Haven including former mayors Sandra McCarthy and Brian Petchler.

A  recession motion has been tabled by 3 Kiama councillors, Karen Renkema-Lang, Kath Rice and Jodi Keast.

Federal candidates for Gilmore Labor’s Fiona Phillips and the Greens’ Carmel McCallum have also issued statements opposing the decision to commit to the sale just before the federal election when federal aged care policy could change after the result.

Other Labor figures have spoken against the sale which is at odds with the 2 Labor councillors Stuart Larkin and Imogen Draisma voting for the sale.

The rescission motion is expected to be debated at an Extraordinary Meeting at Kiama Council Monday this week.
