A fisherman has had a lucky escape after his tiny craft capsized off Callala Bay Thursday morning when a crack appeared in the hull.
Jervis Bay 20 responded around 8:30 and was assisted by Motor Vessel Sycamore which was out in the bay on a training exercise.
The Marine Rescue Zone Duty Operations Manager Glenn Sullivan said Todd the angler had the presence of mind to hold his phone above the water and use it to seek assistance.
The message that may be appropriate here is to log in to Marine Rescue before leaving on any boating expedition.
