The Illawarra Business Chamber is calling for overhauling the South Coast rail line.
Executive Director Adam Zarth says the rail line was built mainly in the late 1800s and simply can’t cope anymore.
He said that the rail communications meltdown recently and last year’s continued shutdowns because of weather events impacts commuters, & costs businesses.
The Chamber claims the region deserves better than this and has proposed a rail network resilience plan as an essential stepping stone to fixing antiquated rail links.
