Independent representative for Kiama Gareth Ward has welcomed the announcement of a $1 million to provide grants to flood-impacted local businesses in Kangaroo Valley.
Grants of $10,000 will be made available to businesses and not-for-profit organisations in the valley that can demonstrate a 40% reduction in turnover for the fourth quarter of the 2021-22 financial year compared to the same period the previous year.
The MP has also written to the premier of NSW. He is a former Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra, expressing strong opposition to the proposed merger of the Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service.
