As reported in the Bugle, former Kiama Mayors Sandra McCarthy, Brian Petchsler, and Mark Honey have released a joint statement saying the situation is nowhere near as gloomy or desperate as has been made out.
They have expressed concerns that Blue Haven residents, Kiama councillors and the wider community are not receiving accurate and transparent information from the current leadership in their haste to sell off Blue Haven. There are early indicators that the new federal government will have improved and increased federal aged care funding.
The former mayors believe an independent and transparent process of consultation with Kiama residents and independent experts may well show that it is in Kiama council’s best interest to retain Blue Haven business.
