Illawarra taxi operators can use Kiama taxi ranks to pick up rank and hail fares after July 31.
Since Kiama Taxis folded a month ago, no other taxi operators have been allowed to use the taxi ranks within the Kiama LGA.
Mayor Neil Reilly has written to the Point to Point Commissioner to lift this ban as soon as possible to help disabled and elderly residents who rely on taxis for essential services such as grocery shopping and medical appointments.
Illawarra Taxis currently provides only limited daytime service to Kiama, with concerns this is increasing unsafe driving at night.
