Kiama Council has responded to the concerns of ratepayers who recently received the latest Notice of Valuation showing the updated land values from the Valuer General of NSW. Kiama Council will use these new land values to calculate our 2023-24 rates, notices of which will be sent to ratepayers in July.

The NSW State Government’s Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) sets the allowable rate increase (rate peg) for all NSW Councils. For 2023-24, IPART set Kiama Council’s rate peg at 5.1%. However, this figure has been adjusted to 4.2% due to the Additional Special Variation granted for 2022-23.

The council has published the proposed rate levy for 2023-24 online and notified all ratepayers in a leaflet included with their May 2023 rates reminder notice.

Residential rates notices will also contain taxes for Domestic Waste and Residential Stormwater.
