As reported in the Kiama Bugle, the Kiama Lions Carers Cottage opposite the Bowling Club in Shoalhaven Street is getting rave reviews. Carers can get respite breaks at subsidised rates while the house is leased at full value 60 days a year to cover costs.
The bookings in 2022 have already exceeded the bookings from the previous year.
To be eligible to utilise Lions Cottage for short-term accommodation, you must give constant care to someone who has a severe disability or illness, suffers from mental health issues or an adult who is frail and old.
Payment for accommodation is the responsibility of each individual unless you have funding available from the NDIS.
The cottage is currently leased from Kiama Council, but at its March meeting, the council agreed to explore selling it.
