What’s On in Kiama
Regular Events
Week 27 – July 3
- On the 13 July, The South Precinct meeting is on at Gerringong Town Hall from 7:30pm
- The Men’s Shed shop is open on Tuesdays and Thursday from 10-2pm
- On Tuesday’s everyone is welcome to join local charity, Homestead of Hope for a free two-course meal from 11am
- Sip n’ Stitch on Tuesdays from 1-3 during term time at the Gerringong Anglican Church Hall, knitting beanies to be given out by the Chaplains at Port Headland Mission to Seafarers in WA
- Each Wednesday, Quilters meet at Joyce Wheatley from 10am
- Each Wednesday from 6:30pm, Silica’s community veggie feast from 6:30pm
- Sing Australia meets every Wednesday at Joyce Wheatley Hall from 7:30pm
- Sea Shanty Singing at Torys each Wednesday from 7:45pm
- On Thursday’s SENTRALS’s open mic nights, where performers aged between 12-25 are invited to come along and try out the stage in a safe, fun and inclusive space.
- Another Thursday event, socialise and play mah-jong, a classic Chinese game of strategy, and skill with local charity Homestead of Hope – 10:30am at Kiama Scout Hall
- Also on Thursdays, Katandra Women’s’ A Capella singing at Joyce Wheatley from 6pm
- And on the first Thursday of each month, at 1:30pm, dance and have fun to Rock’n’roll music with local charity Homestead of hope from 1:30pm at the Scout Hall. There’s a small charge, and afternoon tea is included.
- And on Friday’s there’s a drop in games night from 3-6 at SENTRAL
- On Sundays from 2:30 at the Leisure Centre, pool toy is on for kids over 5 years who can swim (check the leisure centre site for details)
- On the first Sunday of each month, at 12 noon, there’s a vegan bring and share event at Gerroa beach picnic area.
- Burnetts on Barney host the Kiama & Gerringong Crop & Swap on the 2nd Saturday of each month, from 9:30-10

At the Old Fire Station
- Then from 10 to 12 July, Aunty Jodie Stewart who was recognised as Aboriginal Elder of the Year in the Local Government Regional NAIDOC Awards, along with Sharon Mason and the Djaadjawan dancers will provide demonstrations of weaving and dancing.
- Then from 17 to 23 July, the ‘Against the Tide’ exhibition will share the original work of the South Coast’s Alternative Artists and Artisans. The exhibition is about showcasing the diversity of art, sharing ideas and supporting emerging artists. The exhibition will also include workshops and demonstrations.
At Fern Street
- Until 9 July, Jon Harris’ solo exhibition ‘Home’, a collection of images in and around Gerringong
- Then from 10 to 23 July, Jennifer Luck’s solo exhibition ‘Sea Abstraction’ is on
At GLAM
- Proud Wiradjuri Woman Kay A of the Galari clan, and drawing on her cultural connections, deep appreciation of country and contemporary art training will be exhibiting her work between 4 and 9 July

- Until 29 July, Cinnamon Lee’s ‘Lux Nocturna’ exhibition is on

AT THE LIBRARY
Week 27 – July 3
- On 8 July, to celebrate NAIDOC week, Kiama and District Historical Society Treasurer Dr Tony Gilmour, will tell the story of Aboriginal housing in Kiama and along the NSW Coast. This will be on at the Kiama library auditorium
- On 25 July, Ben’s Book Club will be in conversation with Deirdre Macken about book, ‘growing Grapes Might be Fun’ – that’s a digital event
- On 28 July at Gerringong, there’s knitting in the library
- And on 3 August at Kiama, there’s knitting in the library
- On 5 August there’s a friends of Kiama Library talk when author Jeff Apter will talk introduce his book ‘Don’t dream It’s Over: the remarkable Life of Neil finn’. Jeff will also be sharing some of his experiences as a music writer. That’s on at the library auditorium and you can book on the library site.
