Airport operators at Albion Park are dissatisfied with the extended period in which the east-west runway has been unavailable for use.
Shellharbour Council has attempted to restore a section of the second, the lighter & shorter runway, which was damaged by truck movements.
With advice from geotechnical specialists, the base now appears to be satisfactory in the damaged section, and the tarmac should be repaired.
The east-west runway is critical to many operators during the prevailing winds at this time of year from the west.
