Nominations have opened for candidates for the rerun of the Ward 1 election in Shellharbour LGA due to the iVote failure at the general council elections last year.
Marianne Saliba, the former Shellharbour Mayor, announced on ABC Illawarra that she would run, possibly as an independent if not endorsed by Labor. She risks possible expulsion from the Labor party.
Two councillor positions are to be elected, and the polling day will be held on Saturday 30th July. Nominations close this week.
