The recently released plans for the new Shellharbour Hospital apparently do not include a maternity ward – as highlighted by another ‘Ward’ – the state member for Kiama.
Gareth Ward has started a petition to drive changes on this key facility – also for a hospital helipad.
Who would construct a new hospital without helicopter access?
A helipad is included in the design, but someone in NSW Health has decided not to include the pad in the initial build.
The Health Department says patients transported by air ambulance will land at Albion Park Airport. They will then be transported by road to the new Shellharbour Hospital.
The current Shellharbour Hospital has a helipad!
